Can I turn £100 into £1m betting on horses and dogs?

Welcome to Day 1 of my Quixotic quest to turn £100 (ish*) into £1m betting on horses and greyhounds on the betting exchanges Betdaq and Matchbook. I’m doing this in order to attract investment from institutions or High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) and set up a proper sports betting fund.

To give you a bit of background, I’ve been doing this for many years. And while my (very) short-term returns have been sporadically impressive, I have to admit that a lack of long-term profitability currently puts me in the category of ‘degen’ (degenerate gambler).

The aim is twofold. Firstly to prove myself as a worthy steward of others’ money and secondly to showcase betting on horses and dogs as an alternative, non-correlated, asset class. This way I will eventually be trusted with ‘OPM’ – Other People’s Money; hence the blog title Degen2OPM.

There will be swearing, stories, mind dumps, statistics and rants but also thoughtful commentary. On topics including tilt, betting psychology, risk management, staking, bet crafting, my MO and everyday travails. Oh and probably random free images (see below) as a bit of colour never hurt anyone. :o)

n.b. I’m looking at this taking between 12 and 18 months and will be posting weekly at the very least.

*am starting with a very meagre £117.99, made up of £99.30 in Betdaq and £18.69 in Matchbook.
